AVANT’s Bandwidth Usage Reporting Tool (BURT) is a system for monitoring triple play service quality provided by Motorola's Multi-Service Access Platform. It monitors Motorola BDT-BSAM/USAM links (BILINKs), providing early detection of bandwidth and service access problems. A set of browser-based interfaces simplify the identification of service issues and system administration tasks.
Robust scheduling - BILINK polling is scheduled independently for each BDT. The scheduling algorithm maintains a consistent polling frequency and gracefully adapts to situations where the BDT is inaccessible.
Configuration in real-time - Changes to system parameters are communicated in real-time to running processes. This eliminates the down-time normally required during process restarts and allows real-time tuning of the various algorithms used in the system.
Scripted analysis - JavaScript logic is used to analyze BILINK performance and utilization data to determine alarm situations. This logic can be customized by the user as analysis needs change.
Alarm email alerts – BURT automatically generates an email alert upon detecting alarm conditions.
Detailed reporting – The BURT reporting engine reports on all services (Broadcast TV, Video On Demand, High Speed Internet, Download Carousel) carried over BILINKs in various report formats (download sample reports).
Scalable - The system can be scaled to meet processing needs by utilizing the scalability of Java EE implementations as well as the ability to deploy multiple SNMP schedulers for BILINK polling.
Supports multiple vendor hardware - BURT is a pure Java EE 5 application and can execute anywhere for which there is a Java EE 5 implementation available.
Language - Supports internationalization and localization for adapting to regional language requirements.
Device friendly - BILINK polling operates in a device friendly manner by throttling access to BDT equipment. This minimizes interference with other OSS software as well as customer-based service features such as Video On Demand.
